Happy New Year

I just wanted to say Happy New Year to anyone reading this. 2009 should be a good year. I plan on improve upon the streaming video while out storm chasing this year, and to hopefully get some good storms.

I'm looking forward to continue to 'improve' this site, although I'm not sure what more I'll really do. It's a site about me, and just things I have put up. I at least hope I can keep this thing up dated with content more often!

Here's to 2009

Dense Fog on December 27, 2008

I took some video during the early morning hours of December 27th of the dense fog in the Lansing, MI area.

December Severe Weather: Pretty much a bust

A lot of people had made a lot of the severe weather this weekend, but it appears to have mostly been a wash. My target this morning, had I gone, would have been near Lafayette, IN. I would have experienced some straight line winds and been in a Tornado Warning. I guess I am glad I stayed home.

For December, I can't say it was bad. I do kind of wish I could have gotten out there today - It would have been nice to play with my gadgets and get out into some weather. Overall, I'm glad I saved the cash and time.

Winter Storm!

Snowfall rates have been very high this evening with the upper level disturbance over Michigan. As of 10pm EST, I have measured 2.7" of snow here in Lansing, MI.

UPDATE: Final storm snowfall total was 3.6" of measured snow.

Here's video from the winter storm in Lansing taken this evening:

Skywarn Recognition Day 2008

Today (Saturday December 6, 2008) was Skywarn Recognition Day. I spent the afternoon at the Detroit/Pontiac, MI office (DTX) with Fred (W8FSM) and Bob (K8WX) and a few others whom I can't remember callsigns or names right now.

I took pictures and video of the event, which was apparently the best showing they had ever had at the DTX office with almost 60 unique WFO contacts.

You can view my pictures of the event here.

More Snow

Our first real 'Snow Storm' of the season included a Winter Storm Warning today and a couple inches of snow. As of 2:45 pm I had measured 1.6" of snow. I will be measuring again here at 6:45.

Update 6:45 PM An additional 0.8" was measured for a storm total of 2.4" so far.

Here are some pictures from the snowfall:

First Snow of 2008

Today, well technically last night was the first day of snow since sometime last April. It also marked the first day I had to wear my winter jacket since last spring.

Here's a couple pictures I snapped outside of my apartment:
